KURT RABURN RELEASES NEW EP, ‘DAYS OF VANITY’
‘Days of Vanity,’ a new four track EP from Kurt Raburn, is now available to stream and download. The record marks Raburn’s sophomore studio endeavor as a solo artist following 2014’s ‘Roller Coaster of Highways.’ The new effort can be bought and downloaded on BandCamp and it’s also available to stream on major platforms such as Spotify.
Raburn is a homegrown American songwriter who hails from Virginia. Since 1996, he’s been involved an array of music projects, culminating an impressive creative resume. From experimental rock to pop punk to alternative, Raburn has proven his longevity through a myriad of musical styles. ‘Days of Vanity’ draws influence largely from 90s alternative rock. Thus, there are tinges of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Green Day, the Foo Fighters, and many more throughout its tracks.
More recently, however, Raburn discovered a profound source of influence – a source that has cultivated countless songwriters before him: Bob Dylan. The final track on ‘Days of Vanity’ is ‘My Back Pages,’ a cover from Dylan’s 1964 album ‘Another Side of Bob Dylan.’ “I feel as though the lyrics tell the story of my life,” Raburn says. Very much in the tradition of covering the folk icon, Raburn puts his own spin on the track while preserving its poignancy.
“Every song is polished; every song is catchy,” Rick Jamm of Jamsphere Magazine raved about the new EP. “This is, quite simply, beautiful music… It’s refreshing to see a return to the basics of harmonious composition with plenty of texture and tone.”
‘Days of Vanity’ is available now below. Connect with Raburn on his official website and spin the new EP on Spotify!
